1. Introduction

High Tide Today (hightidetoday.com) is a free, non-commercial tide and weather information service operated as a personal project. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use this site and how it is handled.

Because High Tide Today does not require registration, does not display advertising, and does not monetise visitor data in any way, this policy is straightforward: we collect essentially nothing.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. This site does not use cookies, does not require registration, and does not track individual users.

No login, no user accounts, no forms that request personal details — there is simply no mechanism through which personal information could be submitted to or stored by this site.

3. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites. It provides only aggregate traffic statistics (e.g., page view counts and general geographic regions). No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking occurs.

4. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services are used to power content on this site:

• Open-Meteo API — tide height and weather data is fetched server-side. Your browser never contacts Open-Meteo directly; all API calls are made from the server and the results are cached on Cloudflare's edge network before being served to you.
• Wikimedia Commons — location images are served via the standard Wikimedia CDN. Loading these images results in a normal HTTP request to Wikimedia servers, subject to the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare — the site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may process request metadata (such as IP addresses) as part of providing DDoS protection and CDN services, subject to the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

5. Browser Location (Optional)

The homepage includes an optional “Find tides near me” button that uses your browser's standard Geolocation API to find the nearest tide station we cover.

• Geolocation runs entirely in your browser — your coordinates are not transmitted to our servers.
• It is only invoked when you click the button. The result is used once to redirect you to the nearest location page, then discarded.
• Your browser will ask for permission the first time. You can deny, ignore, or revoke this permission at any time in your browser settings.
• If you deny or the lookup fails, a plain region picker appears with links to our country-level pages — no location required.

6. Data Storage

We do not store any user data. All tide and weather data is fetched from third-party APIs and cached on Cloudflare's edge network for performance purposes. This cache contains only API response data, not any information about individual visitors.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access to your personal data
• Right to rectification of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
• Right to restriction of processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to object to processing

In practice, because we do not collect or store any personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. We nonetheless fully respect these rights and will respond to any inquiry via the contact method below.

8. Your Rights Under CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:

• Right to know what personal information is collected about you
• Right to delete personal information
• Right to opt out of the sale of personal information

We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information. There is nothing to opt out of.

9. Children's Privacy

High Tide Today is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this site, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it — although, again, we have no mechanism for collecting such information in the first place.

Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
